One of the differences is that SFI is Internet Based, mostly and Internationally based, and another brick-and-morter business is located and operated mostly from one building called the Headquarters building, and have more limits as to who they do business with. There are more rules and requlations how and where their business can be run. There are less restrictions on an Online company.
However, SFI is just as good as a traditional business. It has a headquarters, and has a physical office it is run from. It also has a great rating at the Better Business Bureau like other traditional businesses. Some people even consider SFI as a traditional busines, such as eBay, and UBid and other auction websites that are comparable to TripleClicks.
SFI does not have as high a starting cost as most other companies have. There are team members that help with advertising costs with co-ops, buying power, and other incentives. The SC Question and Answer team is helpful, too which not too many other companies have offered. We even get contest entries for rating the answers, this is great...and unique to SFI.
However, some other companies offer unique services with their companies as well. I believe to answer your question which is better, SFI or another traditional business...this is actually a matter of personal preferences.
The best way to answer this is write a list of all the pros and cons of one of your favorite companies, and write another list of pros and cons about SFI which is actually (Your Home-Based-Company), then compare your TripleClicks Store, your ECA Stores, Your Wave3 Company, and all the other companies with SFI with the ONE business you have to compare it to...and you may judge which one is better.
When I did the research, the one company I compared it to did NOT have as many contests, newsletters, Guess-The-Price and win prizes cothests in PriceBender's Contests, did not have as good products for sale than the members offer at their ECA websites, as well as the better cleaning supplies as SFI, and their unbeatable prices for everything, the vitamins are even better than store bought which do not even come close to the high levels of vitamins and minerals contained in the vitamins at the SFI websites, and their cleaning ingredients are even more eco-friendly than any that I have seen. There are wholesale prices and SFI shares a percentages of their sales dollars with SFI members, and most rewards programs out there cannot even match those with SFI...so, I hope when you compare your one company to SFI, and do the research I have done, I hope you come to the same conclusion as I have. And you may agree that in my opinion...SFI is actually better.
I wish you well with finding the answers to your question...but, do realize it is really a matter of opinion which company is better. Some people also consider SFI as a traditional home-based-business, so you are kind of asking them to just compare two traditional businesses side by side, and provide you their opinion, which I have done. I cannot tell you which business I compared SFI to, as it would not be fair to the other company and it could also be considered a form of cross-solicitation. However, in my opinion SFI is a very unique company, and it is like 6 companies under the name of SFI, TripleClicks, Wave3, ECA, PriceBenders, and others...so, it was actually difficult to find a company to compare SFI to, fairly. But, I hope you have as fun a time as I have researching your question to find an answer to it.
