I recommend the IAHBE membership. It gives you EA status immediately, and if you do a standing order you hold the status.
The main tool we have at our disposal is information. As they say knowledge is power, having the tools on the SFI site as well as IAHBE just gives affiliates more knowledge on how to run their business.
