As far as I think anything free does not have much of value.
Paying for something and doing it, you will devote your time and creativity to best of your ability since you are expecting something in return.
Simple example I as a Hotelier, I am getting my meals in buffet style everyday does not appeal to me as when I go to some other place and have a meal, paying for it.
