Not only in SFI but in life. Everything in life has goals; whether you realise it or not. Only with goals, you are able to achieve something. No goals means no direction. For example, I'm thirsty. My goal? To get a drink. How? By walking to the refrigerator and getting it.
Goal setting is important for anything you plan to be successful in. It gives you directions and how to work towards them. It gives you an idea of the time you might take to achieve it and how hard you need to work on it. No goal in mind is like just standing there and do nothing. So, nothing happens ;)
