Neither Initial or Follow Up is going to matter much unless you put some careful thought into it.

Be sure to tell the contact-ee how to connect with you. Never be harsh in your criticism. Always be helpful, not accusatory.

What would YOU like to hear from your sponsor's initial contact?

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you".

Keep your initial advice limited to one or two points in order to make your advice do-able for the newcomer.
