This is an excellent question, and one that gave me considerable pause for reflection.
Before I go into any details for best performer and my overall favorite, I am going to briefly illustrate what I feel to be the major benefit(s) for each of the three SFI affiliate gateways.
1) http://www.sfi4.com/XXXXX/FREE
Even though this gateway redirects to having Real2 at the end instead of FREE, having the word FREE in the URL has a very powerful psychological effect given that everybody likes it when they are able to get something for free.
This gateway is also effective as it uses a very clean, concise format, listing five of the major benefits of joining SFI as well as a list of the 20 most recent affiliates to join SFI.
2) http://www.sfi1.biz/XXXXX
While originally designed as a social media gateway, this one also is quite useful on the various traffic exchanges where you have a very small window of opportunity to grab the viewer’s attention. Another benefit of this gateway is that it puts your name forefront at the top of the gateway page, allowing viewers of this gateway to see that you are a real person.
3) http://www.sfi4.com/XXXXX/first
This gateway, while also illustrating key benefits of the SFI business, is also highly visual and incorporates audio as well. Visually stimulating web pages that also utilize audio have been proven many times to be highly effective.
Okay, so now that I have given my brief opinionated summary of each of the three SFI gateways, the one that I feel is the overall best performer for conversion ratio of visits to sign-ups definitely goes to the http://www.sfi4.com/XXXXX/FREE gateway.
However, even though the above mentioned gateway has been proven in my campaigns to have the best sign-up ratio, my favorite gateway of the three goes to http://www.sfi4.com/XXXXX/first. While the FREE gateway is good in listing the names of the most recent affiliates to join, I feel that seeing the photos of those affiliates is much more effective, again reinforcing in the viewer’s mind that these are indeed real people that are signing up.
Having the audio segment on this gateway is great as well, from two perspectives. First, it gives the viewer something to listen to, and second, with the placement, the viewer needs to scroll slightly down the page in order to turn the audio off if they were to so choose, thereby exposing more of the page to the viewer.
