I believe if you recruit by word of mouth and hand shake.You can do a whole lot better than any other way.One the person is in your face,not on a phone,or computer.or any other way that they can just turn you off.At confrontment it is really hard to walk away ,unless the person is a real *** and then you realy don't want to be wasting your valuable time on theme any way.In talking to someone You have the abillity to read them out.You can pick up their responce to questions they have answered.
Check out their body language.Get them calm and ready to listen to you.Go to a coffee shop,or shopping,or flee market.It is far better to get them alone and share everything you know and can explane about what you do.Have fun.
