I think it is more important to connect with them in the first email. All of the advice in the world will be for naught if they don't know you.

I always start with my name and relation to them (Sponsor/Co-sponsor). Then I tell them that I am a real person and offer my help. I don't usually go into details of my offers, contests, etc. in the first email. "They don't care how much you know until they know how much you care."

The goal should simply be to get them to respond.

Offline or online recruiting...which is best and why?

It is not so important where you recruit as is how you recruit.

With both offline and online, it is important to let people know before they sign-up that there is work, cost and daily effort required. That means this is not a get rich quick plan. This is a real business and MUST be treated as such.

Simply blindly signing up as many affiliates as you can will not bring in an active downline. If people know up front what they are dealing with, they can be more likely to succeed.

When starting out in SFI, is it better to invest in advertising or in an EA-qualifying purchase?

Naturally, the best answer would be to do both, but many people can't. They really want to know the answer to this question. I am glad you asked.

Since your talking about starting out, each person can find several ways to advertise at little or no cost. Whereas, you cannot find enough free ways to make the VersaPoints needed to qualify for EA. Granted advertising will help build your team/downline, but that will not do you any good if you don't qualify for EA.

Some people say it is a good way to make money to spend for purchases or advertising. Personally, I couldn't stand to have promoted to have someone join and be active in SFI and they not be in my downline.

Recruiting active referrals is hard work and I don't want to just give that away. I may re-assign them to someone else in my downline, but I would hate being constantly reminded of "the one that got away".

I don't mean to say you should or shouldn't. It is not

Is cold calling, using a local telephone directory, a good method for attracting new PSAs?

The biggest problem I have with cold calling on the phone is that most people know that all of the telemarketers are promoting scams. If you use that method to promote SFI, then more and more people will think that SFI is a scam. So, please don't pollute the pool of available leads, ruining it for the rest of us. Thanks
