I'm totally new to blogging. How do I use my blog to best promote SFI?

Any time you use your blog to promote any thing, whether it is something you want your readers to join or buy, your first goal is to build trust. While the upward potential for profit is infinite, it is not a get rich quick scheme, It takes time to build the trust you need to get good results. The first thing you need to do, is give useful advice. Every day, or at the very least every other day, post in your blog. Every post needs to be on topic, and bringing a point that helps your readers gain knowledge about the topic. After every post, go to technorati and ping the search engines. That helps you gain readers. Another way to gain readers is put the blog on rotation in a couple of Traffic Exchanges. Then, after you have gained trust, you can put in an ad. You should have a picture in your blog of yourself so readers can see you are a real person. This is called branding.

What's more important--the initial contact with a prospect or the follow-up, and why?

I would have to say the follow up. While it is true that without the initial contact. follow up would be impossible, it is the follow up that is usually the contact that makes the conversion. It takes between 3 and 7 viewings of an ad for a prospect to decide to buy your product. It would follow that it also takes multiple contacts for you to convince a prospect to join SFI. All the first contact really does is open the door, or firmly close it. It allows you to establish a rapport with the contact. Once you have done that, you can recontact later.
While it takes multiple contacts to get someone to join SFI, any one contact, if done poorly, could ruin the deal. Your best prospects are the professional marketer. They are going to expect a professional as well. That means someone who can help them learn the system and give them support within the system. Also, you are a representative of SFI. If you give a poor impression of yourself, they will also get a poor impression of SFI.

I am broke but I really want to make EA this month. What do I do and what is the best advice you can give to me?

No matter how broke you are, just making one 1,500vp sale a month will make you and EA. To do that, you will need to do some advertising. To that end this is my advice to you:
1) Find a product that you actually can get behind and promote. Do some. Find out the best keywords for that particular item.
2) Go to a site like Angelfire.com that will host a website for you for free. There are two reasons for building your own page. Firstly, search engines like Yahoo! will not list affiliate links in their search results unless it is a paid link. Secondly, you can personalize your page by picking the keywords that you optimize the page text for. Also, you can personalize or brand the page by making a personal recommendation for the item you are promoting.
3) Now you actively promote the page. There are a host of free methods that are effective. One of the most effective is building a blog and posting to it daily. Adding signature block containing a link to the end of each post allows your readers to go to your sales page. Since blogs are usually very highly listed in the Search Engines, this can bring a lot of visitors that actually chose to search for the keywords. Perhaps a bit less effective, but a good way to get eyes on your page and blog page is the use of traffic exchanges. Once you have a good number of readers, you probably won't want to spend the time surfing, but it will take a bit of time to get started, and this a good way to advertise the blog.
4) One final tool you can employ effectively is a RSS feed from your blog. Every blog can support the technology. That way, even people who don't visit your blog daily can read your posts.

Why is setting goals so important in becoming successful in SFI?

Would you go on a vacation trip without knowing where you are going? Of course you wouldn't. You would get lost or worse. Setting your goals in SFI is the same thing. It gives you a way to map your path from where you are to where it is you are trying to get to. Knowing where it is that you are trying to go helps you find your path and avoid the pitfalls along the way. Knowing where you are going helps you plan as well. In this case, you strategy is rather like a map, perhaps better yet a list of things that you are going to need to do to get there.
For example, if I want to earn $3,000.00 a month in commissions, that meant that I need to average $100 a day. That is simple math, but I wouldn't know a target if I didn't know my goal. Knowing that, the next question becomes, "How do I earn $100.00 a day?" Well, how much do I earn from each sale? That tells me how many sales a day I need. Each of these questions gives me a signpost that I can follow to my goal. The beauty is, even if I don't attain my goal, I learned something that I can use to refine my goals for next time.

What should a new SFI affiliate focus on to ensure a good financial return in their first month?

First thing you have to do is get your own ship in order. That is, earn EA status. Then you can start building your team. Then you can tell those affiliates that you sponsor, this is how you do it, and teach them to earn EA and recruit. Because you do that, you can show them by example. Its a lot easier to lead from the front with a "do as I do" attitude than a "do as I say, not as I do" attitude.
Why are badges so important?

The badges are important because it shows your team that you are doing as you teach. For example if I tell them that it is important to earn EA or better every month and don't have at least EA myself, they won't think that it is actually important and probably won't become an EA themselves. However, practicing what you preach does show a commitment that is going to be respected, and followed by at least some of your team. Seeing the badges lets your team know what you are doing to build you SFI business as well. Seeing that your sponsor has won a Daily Grand prize and a pricebenders auction might inspire them to try their hand at the auctions and enter the daily grand themselves.

Should I reach out to the affiliates on my 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. generations...or leave support to their sponsor?

While the primary responsibility for your 2nd generation is their sponsor and co-sponsor, any help that you give will make your team stronger. Sending a team message to the whole team shares knowledge that they might not get otherwise. Every one of us has knowledge and experiences that are unique to us. Some part of that might be just what the affiliates in the downline need to thrive. It is therefore alright to help the 2nd, 3rd etc generations. That might in the end be the best way you can help your 1st generation.

What makes SFI better than other Internet-based income opportunities?
Ken Moore, Aff (Florida, US)

Probably the most important difference is the upline support. If I don't know how to do something, my sponsor does and is willing to help me with the problem. That means that I don't have to find my own answer or re-invent the wheel. The answer is out there, and if I ask for help, I will get it from my sponsor.
The other thing that sepparates SFI from the other opportunities out there is the fact that I can make money without ever having to spend anything. All I need is a couple of free ads for recruiting and and sales, and I can be generating an income. I have to do the work, but that is expected.

You are a sponsor who has lost touch with your downline. How do you reconnect?

Start by putting yourself in their position. How would you feel if you were in their psoition? Now approach them the way you would want to be approached. Since they probably feel that you just want to make money from their efforts, make a honest effort to show that you care for them and want them to make money too. Perhaps purchase a gift certificate for them.
Why should independent shops place their offerings on TripleClicks when they already have a Website?

By placing their offering on tripleClicks, they are in effect gaining thousands of affiliates that are advertizing their products. That increases their sales revenue and profits. Since they only pay a fee on the sales generated by TripleClicks, it is a risk free way of increasing their profits.
