How do you handle prospects and affiliates who expect to get rich fast?

The decision to follow your teachings is up to your prospects and affiliates. When you recruit people you should let them know from the start that SFI is not a shortcut to riches inform them that SFI is the real thing. All successful businesses sprout up from real effort and time well spent.
If you tell your prospects or affiliates before they signup that this is not a get rich quick scheme it will save you a lot of time and energy screening out the ones who are serious and willing to commit than those who are looking for a lazy way out. How do I convince someone to try SFI when they've had bad experiences previously with online businesses?

Almost everyone who tried to make money online had bad experiences with scams who claim to get you rich fast in return for an investment. There are so many hyped up systems out there it's almost impossible to sort out the bad seeds from the good ones.
Show them all the things that SFI stands for and the things SFI doesn't stand on and compare them. If the good ones out number the bad ones that's another way of proving that SFI is the real deal. However, listen to every detail on what caused them to give up on online businesses. What happened to them, or what did they lose while they were doing online business? You have to probe a little so you can wrap your mind around the situation then you will see a clearer view of how to approach the cause with solution.
It will probably take some time to finally convince them, but don't spend all you energy on one person. There are plenty of interested people out there who are looking and they are the ones you should spend your energy on. Also focus on the people who are already in your downline.

As a new Team Leader, what is the single most important thing I should be doing?

Well, it depends. Everyone has a different meaning of important. First, you need to study your standing with SFI meaning you need to locate where your weak spot is in SFI. Everyone has different weaknesses some may have a hard time starting a conversation with their downline, some may not understand English very well, some may not be computer savvy enough, etc... You can start by look into yourself and find where you think you need improvement in, and it should relate to your success with SFI. You can also study your To Do List and try to find which one of those red tags need more of your attention, then, put more action into it.

What makes you persevere with SFI and not quit?

That's a very interesting question because with anything worth putting efforts into SFI is one of the best. From my own reasons to stay with SFI I look back to many other online opportunities I've been with. So far, none of the other programs could ever match SFI's ability to help new affiliates where help is most needed. Just to name a few of these helps:

What are the personal characteristics and skills you need to become successful with SFI?

People who succeed with SFI and any other endeavor all have strong characters. They don't stop when they are ridiculed. They are generous when there's not much to give, but they give from the heart. They are rock islands when the sea gets rough and surf mercilessly keeps pounding them but they know there's an end to every bad thing. They are people with the correct road map to navigate in the right city.
As for skills, well, everyone is endowed with skills built in them. With these skills all we have to do is sharpen them, and consider SFI as your sharpener. SFI already has all the right materials, training, and support all it lack is the person to put it to the test (you). The skill you need is to know how to get online, read,listen,understand,implement, and execute.

How do you prevent people from preying on your downline and convincing them to join other programs?

Tell them SFI has a real proven history of making people succeed and it's been around and earning income for affiliates for 16 years plus. Work with them daily and sending ideas and tips on where to advertise for free. Check in on your affiliates and see how they are doing. Check in on your geneology report on individual downlines what motivates them and try to work with that. See what they don't like doing, and find out any way of helping them out. Basically, just how them that you care, and you're here to help. Remind them that SFI is free including the tools,resources,training, and already a great place to start from.

Is it possible to be successful in SFI even when your PSAs and CSAs do not work or have stopped working?

The simple answer to that is no.
SFI like all real businesses is like a ship that will get you from point A to point B with the help of your crew. As a captain you have to keep all lines of communications open and active with your crew to get the ship going.
You can do so much alone, but with your PSAs and CSAs doing their part the sky is not even the limit. Don't give up on your PSAs and CSAs keep communicating with them. Send them tips, motivational stories, anything that will lift up their spirits again. The key here is:
