Yes, you can go for the rank of Team leader if you do not have a team. You are not prohibited. You may have a downline no matter how few which you should nurture, and probably have been nurturing through your weekly posts and maybe one on one communication.
The ideal situation however, is that you should have a Team, to properly earn the tag Teamleader. This you do through sustained recruitment, training and retetion of affiliates. Duplication is a name of the game.

The fastest way to build a team of SFI affiliates are as follows in order of speed of acquisition:
1. Buy your PSAs from Tripleclicks .com ( your online store). As many as your money can carry you.

3. Recruit them yourself from your colleagues and friends.
4. You can get some PSAs from bidding for them on Pricebenders.

First of all your must have been doing so yourself. You must have got a Standing order of not less than 100 T-credit per month. Examples are better than precepts.
Secondly, you know why you are doing that, and you have to explain to him/her why you are making such monthly investments in SFI. I think it is simple.
SFI is business, real business, and germane too. Is is he even business inclined? If he is then any business you want to run demands investment, steady investment until you start talking of breaking even, and then making profit.
Interestingly, SFI is one in which you may not invest a dime, but make some bucks if you learn the ropes. The only money you could say you invest would be time, because they say - Time is money.
Expose to him/her the testimonies of young and elderly who have patiently been it it for years and making it big.
Tell him/her that SFI is NOT a fast lane to wealth, a get-rich-quick internet business, but that it is a sure horse.
If he will ride, he will ride, even without much preaching.

Those already engaged in other marketing network might not be doing very well, or they erroneously expect a get-rich-quick business which turns out not to be so.
Take them to SFI. By this I mean that you should be practical. Open your webpage and let him/her have a look at the rate of registration of members, the comments members are making especially comments from those who dropped out many years ago only to bounce back to SFI because it is more fool-proof and assuring and profitable.
Do not rush him or her. Take the person through part of the series of free training programs that will even make the person a guru in the other network marketing business embarked upon.
Do not disuade the person to leave his or her comfort zone. Let that person know that putting all one's eggs in one basket is not the best afterall, and so should it be with network marketing.
Do not forget to let the person know that SFI is not a get-rich-quick affair. It might be slow, but it is sure and a very reliable cushion to retire on.

I however find it difficult to see an affiliate looking at you as a dictator, because there is actually nothing to dictate. You teach, you encourage, you cajole, you support.
You teach the affiliate what to do and how to do it. Remember, examples are better than precepts, so you get better results through leading by example.
Have you been doing what you are asking the affiliate to do? Show the affiliate.
Have you been consistent in doing your daily reviews? Show the affiliate.
Do you want to convince the affiliate that the surest way to be and maintain an EA status every month is by having a standing order of 125 Tcredits per month? Ensure you have one yourself and show the affiliate your badge, bragging rights and bonuses you have on Daily Grand Draw as a result.
Do you support the affiliate when, say, the affiliate has just a few versa points to hit the EA status for the month? Do it. I do so regularly for the very few serious affiliates I have, and they are on.
The latter, more than anything else shows you are far from selfish, but that you are also interested in their success.

This is a good question, since it looks like one needs to be a celebrated soothsayer to be able to assure one that one will make money remaining in SFI.
But i do not think it needs all that.
Let us look as just these few:

You need to read the testimony of several people who have been with SFI for well over ten years and who now testify that nothing better could have happened to them in the world of E-Commerce and Affiliate Marketing.

At this time, which are the best countries to advertise SFI in?

This is a fine question indeed, and mentally tasking.
To appreciate the answer to this question, one needs to know what bracket of people are most engaged in online and affiliate marketing. Starting from me, I would say- Retired persons. Then those who are at the verge of retiring, and then housewives who would want to earn some dollars for obvious reasons while attending to their household chores. Practically speaking, most of these people are those who stay indoors most of the time. But they are geographically spread over the whole world, and with that the question 'which are the best coutries' becomes an enigma These would be your targets anyway, and having said that, the best countries to advertise SFI in would be all countries of the world., for fortunately/unfortunately, these catchment of people abound all over the world.
You will also observe that SFI being primarily an indoor thing, you have to also target those people who dwell in the frigid zones this period and who are less prone to move out, but at thesame time would love a game, nay, a business they can do in the comfort of their homes, near the fireplace perhaps, and earn a few dollars to their kitty pending when the snow starts melting to allow freer movement outside.

If there are shops and Supermarkets around you, approach the management and sell the idea of Electronic commerce Associates(ECA) to them.
Find time to talk to your friends and colleagues about SFI and show them your performances and badges. Get them through subtle persuasion to join SFI.
Advertise, through facebook, other social media and websites (frre ones are available- Try Wordpress for instance)
Recruit, advertise, recruit, and duplicate by so doing.
