I do not have any PSA's that I know personally who I could speak to face to face, so all my communication with my PSA's is via email.

In my experience, unless a PSA is committed to SFI from the start, trying to communicate and find out a little about them or their goals, let alone getting a response, is like drawing blood from a stone.

When you get one of the rare gems, it is not difficult to discuss their goals, as they are open to sharing their needs and receiving suggestions, help and direction. Being realistic and honest with your PSA's is vital, as they need to know that fortunes are not made overnight, and especially not with little or no effort from themselves! Without committment and perseverance they will not reach those goals.

Many of my PSA's have joined SFI because they have financial difficulties and are therefore unable to commit to a monthly budget, so it is a challenge to come up with alternatives to buying TCredits, Affiliates etc. There are many ways like advertising for free, blogging, flyers and so on, but I have found that unless money comes in fairly quickly, they lose interest and drop out.

I try to encourage my team to give themselves at least a year. Most new businesses do not make a profit in their first year, so they need to be realistic in setting their short or long-term goals.

Without a doubt I would spend more money on building my team. It is not as easy as it sounds, to sponsor Affiliates, when you have no experience. It is imperitive to start as soon as you possibly can afford it, to buy PSA's or CSA's. There are a number of Co-ops available, some better than others, but you never know, one day you get a real gem!

I have not been very successful with my ad campaigns. I have tried hundreds of free classified ad sites but had very little success. I now spend a lot of time looking at other ads and trying to fine tune mine. If I had the available resources I would buy advertising, but in the meantime, I am trying to be much more diligent about trying to advertise every couple of days (as time allows) with better, catchy ads (I hope!).

I also did not utilize all the resources available at SFI because of fear of my ignorance on the internet(on what to do and how to do it) for example, how to use E-Cards. They are actually a really useful tool and as long as you have people you can send them to, they can be very helpful. List building is also an area that can be succesful, if you can buy them, the free ones are a bit of a nightmare (putting it mildly) with your inbox inundated....... definitely create a seperate email account for that!

Tp be able to reward your team for their hard work is a great opportunity to inspire them and give the incentive they need to keep trying. I have done as much as I can afford, but if I was able to, I would spend more on free rewards and incentives (that is, not making them buy something in order to be rewarded) Just a free gift of appreciation.

Tripleclicks is great and I love the auctions, but..... I have spent so much money on buying TCredits to bid, hoping to win CSA's, TCredits, Domains, etc., that I would have been better off spending that money on standing orders for Affiliates and advertising.

If I had the time (I have 2 jobs plus SFI) I would go all out and really try to market Tripleclicks to recruit ECA's. Sales is the answer! To be able to earn residual income for life from an ECA sounds an awful lot more sensible than recruiting, buying and spending money on auction(that I lose!).

By giving support and keeping in regular contact through PSA & CSA Mailer, as well as stream posts and e-cards, offering help and suggestions is what every good team leader should be doing.

A team leader can even go further by Skyping and holding webinars, sharing their blog and starting a co-op.

Additionally, we can give rewards for performance. I like to encourage new EA's with $5 and EA2's with $10 plus 10-15 re-assigned affiliates and so on.

I have had many affiliates take advantage and EXPECT me to provide monetary gifts and just continually handing out! This is TOO much.
Hard work CAN be rewarded but should not be EXPECTED!
This is after all a business and it is theirs too.

"What are the best ways to set up proper communications with my new PSAs?"

It is first and foremost in importance to send your new PSA a warm and welcoming ‘Welcome’ letter or E-Card, as soon as possible. I prefer the E-Cards as they seem more personal.

Don’t overload your welcome email with too much detail, but set them on the right path of ‘getting started’.

If you see (through your daily check-up of your genealogy) that they have become active – check their VP ledger to see what activities they have done.

Send them a “Tips” E-Card if you see there are areas they are missing out on free VP and important lessons they should read. Encourage them to log in every day.

Make sure you give them confirmation of your availability to help them.

Try to engage them in personal communication, through email, skype or chat. Many Affiliates will not participate, so just keep communicating with them often but don’t overdo it!.

Always acknowledge any achievements and let them know you appreciate their efforts and hard work.

Make sure your Stream Posts offer useful tips (3 a week) and your Team Mailers (1 a week) have helpful lessons or testimonies from yourself or other experienced Affiliates.

Update your Leadership page regularly and encourage them to read your posts.

If you manage to get some form of open communication, ask them what their goals are. Tailor your help to meet those needs.

Check up daily on who has a birthday. Send an E-Card. That means you care!

If you see good work and efforts try to reward them in what ever way you can afford. Re-assign Affiliates to help them build their team. Give gift cards when they have achieved, if you can afford it, but always praise them.

This is your business and you need a good strong team. BUT it is also their business and they must do the work and are responsible for the success, not you! As long as you answer their questions and help where you can you will be doing well.
