How does one support a new affiliate from the second month in gaining needed VersaPoints if he/she does not have any funds?

We all know that operating of any business must associate with that essential requirement - MONEY. If there is no money, there is no business, end of story. Is that simple? That is to say, if they have no, they won't build anything better with this kind of business.
However, my personal opinion is that if your pocket is a little bit deeper than us, then you can share what you have to save your affiliate(s).
Once again, Gery Carson ( SFI Founder) repeatedly asserted that money is never required here to build up your SFI business.

People - SFI Affiliates: Working together with these helpful people is the main reason I am proud to be part of this organisation. With these helpful people, I mean knowledgeable, skillful, experienced people in various aspects of life.
It is unimaginable that I could be part of an online global entrepreneurial business like this. I am so grateful I am into the future business technology now, which gives me some good ideas to predict about how and what would be our next generations are going to live their lives.
Spending any money here is always going to be returned back to you in various reward forms. There is nothing here to loose. You can always be the winner. Where else you can buy something say $100 and then you get a rewards of even more than $300. For example, if we bought 200 T-Credits pack with 2 X $29 = $58, you 'll earn 2400 VP automatically. This keeps you above the green line or it decorates your badge more attractive for more self-motivation. However, with those 200 TC, you use it to bid and if you are lucky to win a laptop or something similar, that makes your day. Prepare a sufficient fund as the simplest solution for any financial problem.
Go to My Account, My Report, Genealogy, Click on T=Credits, Transfer Credits along with your work hard affiliates in particular, then specify how many T-Credits you want to use as your rewards.
SFI will do the rest for you.
I am just mentioning this from my first experience in doing this just this week. There are other means such as Gift Cards, etc., but I won't talk about them as I haven't done any of them.

Enticing their interests is the key issue. To entice anyone's interest, we have to know exactly what we are going to preach out about. This is to say that our leadership level must be already a super-influential, magically-powerful and highly respected. Why is that? because we have to make them look up to us every single moment of the lives or else they won't respond in any way.
The virtue of this question, of course a very good one, is that it reflects how difficult to maintain our high standard of leadership. First of all, we have to be initiative. We don't sit around and expect others to be our affiliates automatically. It won't work like that. We act first. We keep on act until we face another new action to produce (develop)more new actions... (ongoing actions with that old idea of workaholic)[Thesis - Anti-thesis - Synthesis: a simple way to look at it].
If they see us keep on working working working and also see the result of our working hard, they will want to be part of us automatically. And with that, the conversation between the two parties will be on the way pretty well. Once again, it really depends on us. Once we slack behind, that condition will certainly reflect back from our affiliates and no one wants to talk to us anymore.
Isn't common sense? You are successful only when you work hard. Consequentially, you automatically have many friends. Paradoxically, we won't have many friends because we are losers, but that's because we tend to be more lazy at the time.
So the simplest answer for your question is as they usual say: Lead by example.

At first and to be honest, I didn't like the question because it sounds as if you put down your own capable country. Yet, once I pulled out your details and found out that you have more experience in SFI than me, I suddenly thought that you didn't ask the question for you yourself but for everyone, not necessary whether you are African, Italian, Indian, etc., but for anyone who are currently residing in Africa. That what makes me feel really good about your work ethic and that question. ...and now I am saying that you question is so crucial to have a look at.
I agree with most if not all the answers I have read here about the HOW part your question and I don't have to repeat them all.

Knowing that you are an adviser, you must quickly find something from SFI Basics, Launchpad and your Sponsor as sufficient sources of information for your advice. Don't forget your upline members, forum and in here too are all valuable sources of information that will guide you in how to deal with your new PSAs.
To be an online employee, you must be a go getter. Since there is no one else beside you to ask your question to, you MUST read all about your new SFI business, learn from them enjoyably and then use them for your advice.
Sometime we think we are helpless because we are new to a situation. But hey! we are only helpless if we are lazy to do something to help others.

What do you tell prospects who say they aren't interested in SFI because they don't know very many people?

The number of people you know now can never be compared with the number of people you are to deal with in any online global digital network such as in SFI here.
It's hard to think that anyone in this world knows one million people and can be their friends, but in this kind of online business, you can communicate with more than a million people through your successful advertisements.
Sometime, it's just easier to invite those who don't know anything about us, because those who know us could not focus on business we are doing but on us individually.
As a result, our acquaintances, friends and even our relative and family tend to ignore what we trying to offer.
So, it's better to work with those who don't know us really as they won't waste their time judging us all the time.
So, go with those who don't know you is the right condition of joining SFI.

How many hours a week do I need to devote to SFI to become successful?

Agree with all the well explained answers above, but the latest study in particular on how much time needs to devote for an effective and successful online work from home a day is 17 hours. We usually fall in to do online work thinking that it only takes a few hours a day, not from where I am standing from. If you are a newbie, you must expect more than 15 hours a day - provided you are in to succeed.
In SFI, reading is endless so learning is an ongoing process. Why learning is important in SFI? - so you have more option to take. “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” ? Dr. Seuss.
